John Fashanu reveals why Tammy Abraham snubbed the Super Eagles
Former three lions of England striker, John Fashanu has revealed why Tammy Abraham chosed to play for England ahead of Nigeria.
The former Wimbledon star disclosed that the Chelsea striker dumped Nigeria for England because of the former lack of support for those who gave their all for the country.
Fashanu, who only won two caps for England disclosed to Daily Trust that he still earn monthly pension of 5 million naira from Football Association of England for the service he rendered years ago.
"Till today I still get my benefits, my pension. I get N5m monthly as pension for being an ex-footballer in England and now I am in my 50s.
"Tammy knows why he hasn't play for the Super Eagles and it's because there is more financial benefits, there is more glory and less wahala. Why do we want the boy to play for Nigeria and torture him?
"We need to step up. Tammy is massive for Nigeria. Nobody went to London to talk to him and explain the benefits of playing for his motherland."
He used Jay Jay Okocha and Kanu Nwankwo recent troubles as a case study.
"And when you hear what happened to Kanu Nwankwo, Jay Jay Okocha, did anybody come out to defend him over his tax bills, did anybody comes out to defend Kanu when he had issues with his hotel?". he asked.
