Biabiana Steinhaus will become the first female referee to officiate a Bundesliga match


A 38 year-old female German police officer Bibiana Steinhaus will become the first female referee to officiate a Bundesliga match. 

The Germany football association announced on Thursday that Bibiana Steinhaus will officiate the game between Hertha Berlin and Werder Bremen.

Steinhaus, who has been officiating in Germany's second division since 2007 and the German cup competition, have plenty of experience with top First division players. 

Bibiana started officiating Germany's female football in 1999 before she was liacened by FIFA in 2005. She became the first female professional referee in Germany in 2007 after she officiated a match in the 2.Bundesliga.

She has also officiated Women's World Cup, European championships, the 2012 Olympic Games and the women's uefa champions league final.
