Former Real Madrid player sentenced to three months imprisonment


A judicial department in Rio de Janeiro has sentenced former Real Madrid and Inter Milan left-back Roberto Carlos to three months imprisonment for his inability to pay alimony for two of his children.

Carlos, who is now Real Madrid Ambassador in Asia and Oceania failed to pay his former partner Barbara Thurler the alimony for her children after the court ordered him to pay her $20,000 (61,000 reals).

The 46 year-old ex-brazilian international claimed his financial troubles is the reason why he hasn't paid his debts.

Carlos, who is known for his thunderous left foot, recently welcome a child with his new wife Marianna Lucon. The child is his ninth.
