Dani Alves on the brink of breaking Ryan Giggs record
Dani Alves has officially equalled Wales and Manchester united legend Ryan Giggs and Liverpool legend Kenny Dalgish as the player to win the most trophies in history.
The former Barcelona player was the hero as his new club Paris saints Germain beat AS Monaco to the French super cup title on Saturday.
The French super cup was his 35th titles as a professional footballer, he equalled Ryan Giggs and Kenny Dalglish as the football players to have won most titles in history.
Unlike Ryan Giggs who won all his thirty-five titles with Manchester United, Alves won his trophies with six different teams, in four different countries and with his national team.
The ex-Sevilla right-back won his first title with Bahia in Brazil, he won 28 titles in Spain (23 with Barcelona and five with Sevilla), he won three trophies in Italy with Juventus, 2 titles with the Brazilian national team and one with his new club Paris saint-Germain in France.
Kenny Dalglish won his titles with two different teams and in two different countries. The 'king' as he was famously called by Anfield fans won 21 titles with Liverpool and a further 14 with Celtic.
Dani Alves will have to win one more title to become the outright footballer to have the most titles in history.
