Real Madrid midfielder says he doesn't want to face the best in the world
Brazil international Carlos Henrique Casemiro has disclosed to reporters in his hometown that he want Cristiano Ronaldo to continue at Real Madrid because he doesn't want to compete against the 'best in the world'.
The 25 year-old was honoured in Sao Jose de Campos, his hometown in Brazil by winning the award for the most outstanding player from the area. Casemiro received the Ubitaran pereira Maciel medal on tuesday.
Casemiro, who scored Real Madrid's second goal against Juventus in this year's Champions final, was an integral part of Zinedine Zidane's team who became the first club to win the Uefa Champions League in two straight seasons.
"Cristiano is the best in the world and I don't want to have to face the best. For this reason I want him to stay at Real Madrid." he said during his ceremony.
The former FC Porto midfielder also revealed his intention to continue impressing Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane and his national team coach, Tite.
"Zidane is a great coach and I appreciate everything he has me to do; it helps me progress as a player." he said.
Real Madrid supremo Florentino Perez surprised the midfielder by conducting a short video to acknowledge the Brazilian's effort at Real Madrid. The president said in the short video : " Casemiro is an ambassador for the club throughout the world."
Real Madrid signed the tireless midfielder from Sao Paulo in 2013. In 2014, he was loaned out to Portuguese giant, Porto, where he played over 40 matches, scoring four times, he returned to Real Madrid in June 2015.
