Nigerian international diagonised with Leukaemia
Nigerian International and wolveshampton wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme is suffering from acute leukaemia, his club confirmed today.
The 31 year-old custodian was diagnosed with the disease during his club's pre-season training. The ex-Middlebrough player will begin Chemotherapy as soon as possible.
"It would be an understatement to say that everyone at Wolves has been shocked and saddened to hear the news of Carl's diagnosis. " said Wolves' managing director Laurie Dalrymple.
"At the same time we all know what fighter and competitor Carl is, I have no doubt that he will take all of those attributes to this battle." he added.
Carl Ikeme made his debut for Wolveshampton Wanderes in 2005,he has played over 200 games for the Championship side.The former Leicester city goalkeeper, who was born in England, has been capped 10 times by the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
