Former Manchester United midfielder ordained as a priest
He used to be a Manchester United player but Philip Murlryne has been ordained as a priest in a Catholic Church in Dublin, Ireland.
The former midfielder used to play alongside United legends such as the Neville brothers, Ryan Giggs and David Beckham.
The 39 year-old chosed to become a priest ahead of the traditional post-retirement option of coaching or punditry. He was ordained by Archbishop Joseph Augustine Do Noia on Saturday.
He retired from professional football at the age of 31 due to persistent injuries. He began his journey to priesthood after his retirement.
Murlryne, who made his debut for Alex Ferguson's Manchester United side in 1997, also played for Norwich city, Cardiff City, Leyton Orient and king's Lynn.
