Cristiano Ronaldo named 'world's most famous athlete'


Real Madrid Forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the world's famous athlete on earth, according to Sport network, ESPN.

Cristiano Ronaldo, beat off competitions from the likes of LeBron James and Lionel Messi to lead the ranking, which was compiled by ESPN.

Superstars from the world of sports features on the list, which features a total of 38 Footballers. Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar Junior are the only footballers to make the top 10 of the ESPN world fame 100.

The list was compiled by ESPN Director of Analytics Ben Alamer, who came up with a formula which control the outcome of the list, with Earnings, social media influence and Google search popularity, all taken into account.

Multiple Grand Slam winner, Rafael Nadal also feature on the list, Manchester United trio Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba are also included on the ESPN World Fame 100. See the list below.
