Gaziantepspor Winger Frantisek Rajtoral found dead
The Czech Republic international was confirmed dead by his club today, Monday, April 24. There were reports in Turkey suggesting that Player committed suicide, a suggestion that was later confirmed by the club president to be true.
The 31 year-old won 14 caps for his country, he made 2 substitute appearances in the Euro 2012.
He started his career in his native country, wining two league titles and one Czech cup with Viktoria Plzen before moving to Germany to play for Hannover.
He moved to Turkey in 2016 and has made 12 appearances for Gaziantepspor in the Super lig before his painful death.
Gaziantepspor president Levent Kizil confirmed that the cause of death was suicide, but suggested that no-one at the club knew of any previous problems.
'Unfortunately I can confirm that the news of suicide is true,' he told Turkish website Sporx.
'His team-mates were concerned after Rajtoral didn't participate in today's training session.
'He was a proper person with good spirits. He didn't seem to have any problem. I really don't know why he did such a thing.' the President concluded
The Czech FA tweeted: 'Thank you for everything, Franz! Our condolences to your family and all your friends'
His former club Viktoria Plzen, also paid tribute to the player: " Rest in peace Rajt, we will all miss you so much, we will never forget you."
